Yeah I still listen to my vinyl copies of "Mantovani does Led Zeppelin" and "Montovani covers the Sex Pistols." True classics few know about.

Haven’t heard this since I was a kid. My mom played him Saturday mornings all the time. Thanks for the memory!

You know you are old when you hear Lawrence Welk do the "Beastie Boys" songbook!

I’d rather listen to the real rockers at 100 db than hear Montovani at 40 db.

There’s nothing quite like almost melting your college roommate’s speaker coils with “Immigrant Song” at 6:30 AM on a Monday morning!

One of my daughters had a problem getting up for school.
She said she did not have an alarm clock. I said, 'No Problem, I do'!
I solved the issue with Pink Floyd's "Time" at about 85 db from my old Infinity Quantum III's at 0630.
It only took 3 mornings before she was up early.
To this day, she hates that song.

Rolling on the floor laughing! I have two kids who were perpetually late. I feel your pain, especially since I’ve been punctual all my life.

Erin Schreiber, a classical violinist, breaks out into some LZ with Chris Botti. I heard essentially this same thing here at the Coltrane Jazz Festival.

It’s great to see a young, classically trained, musical genius embrace classic rock. No Mantovani at that concert!

Wow Jerry, haven't heard that for quite a while, sure beats, my opinion, the banging, screaming junk put out now. Didn't it used to be called 'elevator music' which I haven't heard lately - come to think of it how long has it been since I was in an elevator? Thanks.

Muzak — now Mood Media — is the company behind elevator music. They used to play a LOT of Mantovani and other "soothing" sounds like The Living Strings. Then they woke up and learned that they could make more money by targeting lots of specific demographic groups with background music to play in stores, restaurants, etc., and that what they were REALLY selling was subliminal manipulation. Whether buried just below the main signal, or in messages played between songs, they encourage people, "Don't steal. Buy brand X. Check out product Y..."
