I thought it was a milkweed kind of plant too. I like both images. Just wondering about the one with the border and the narrow band of color that seems to duplicate the color in the stem on the right. What about a slightly wider color border duplicating the rusty color seen on the left? One of the things I love to do is get the colors in Affinity photo to match. That rusty tone popped out to me.

A Topaz Studio 2 filter helped make the wispy threads stand out. Feedback welcomed. I'll post the workflow as soon as I can find it; just did this a few days ago

Nice work. One of your best. I like the impact of the sharpness.

Linda, you produced a wonderful image. I love both versions. The details are pristine and as pure as gold. Absolutely stunning! With my newly acquired taste for B&W this image is a perfect candidate for conversion too. . . .

This is really beautiful, Linda! Thank you for including your workflow. I only have Photoshop and LrC, but I really enjoy seeing what other programs can do. I love the contrast in your photo and how the tiny hairs really stand out. Also, the black frame was a nice touch. I love it!!

Patty
Thanks so much, Patty. I'm very pleased you enjoyed! Be careful about dabbling into playful pp - it is highly addictive

Exceptional, Linda! I like the clarity of this image - the extreme sharpness. But I also wonder how it would look with a bit of softness, negative clarity.

Thank you Stan! And oh yes, you're right - below is just a quick slider change to one of the finished jpg's. More fun ahead!!

Okey-dokey, here we go

Great idea, Ellen, thank you! Here is a few more percent. Any larger seemed to overwhelm the photo. Hard to know how others see with various screen sizes and so forth.

Learning to use color picker tool on a non-dominant color from within the image (and maybe we're talking complimentary color sometimes?) was a neat tip I remember from early years on UHH.

Many thanks!

Greatly appreciated. Ironic I just wrote a couple of days ago in a main discussion forum topic how I hate the term "tack sharp." Obviously, the use of sharpness is dependent on subject and intended result

I'm so glad you enjoyed! I dipped the psd into Nik Silver Efex and immediately found a few presets I loved. Will take the time to work a deliberately visualized result and maybe we'll see it in Black and White Forum in a few days

Thanks Again!

Very creative. I like what you are doing with these.

Definitely Asclepias (Milkweed) seed pods, maybe Asclepias fascicularis - Narrow-Leaf Milkweed.

Is there a limit as to how many people named Mike can post on the same thread?
