This lil' fella almost made into my glove. My long experience with anything that has prickers, stickers, spiny things, or feathery hairs, the chances are they're going to hurt me. Any ID is well come.

Fuzzy caterpillars are usually bad news if one touches them.

Thanks for the looks and comments Mike, Longshadow & Curmudgeon. It appears to be an Imperial Moth Cat and not supposed to be stingy according to Google so it must be true. RIGHT!!!

I probably would have wet my pants by that stage of the crawl 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯, but it's stunning shot 🏆

Thanks, Joe. I didn't have my gloves on at the time, but glad he didn't hide in there. I'm in the habit of checking my gloves/shoes/clothes for unwanted critters.

Nice image. It does look like a stinger, though.

Nice one! However: We have a particularly bad group of Fuzzies here in Florida that (if touched/down your shirt/etc.) causes excrutiating pain for days - the little spines must be pulled out (sticky tape, tweezers, etc.) immediately, and you are in for a painful time (see puss caterpillar, saddleback caterpillar, Io moth caterpillar and hag caterpillar) - My wife got a Puss Catapillar in the sleeve of her blouse, did not feel it till it had left it's spines in her arm, once wew determined what happened,l we removed them but not quickly enough, very painful for over a week....she said that if it had been her left arm she would have thought she was having a heart attack, spines on shoulder, pain all down the arm, shoulder, neck and chest areas....a very long lasting unpleasant experience. OK from a distance, but watch out for contact.

Think they were IO Moth caterpillars. Green, maroon stripe down the side. prickles all over. Like fire!!
