Bob (Rmalarz) has been helpful in digging out some info to help me in monochrome 'journey'.
I've barely glanced at it (got a few things on at the mo.) but needed a break so a short walk and a nice day bought me here.
A long way to go with the notes but I might have picked some info and hopefully used it here.

The Church was made more 'churchlike' in the 1800's but written records note it's presence in the 1200's. But those in the know say evidence suggests the original church is possibly a further 200 years old.

I think your composition and the lighting for #1 is first-rate. Overall exposure still a bit dark for me, but I'm so glad to hear you have a talented and generous mentor in rmalarz and are enjoying your journey!

Looking at it now I think you are right, it is a little to dark. I did a previous version which I placed on my facebook page and this gives the lightning conductor more prominence. I've learned that it is not just a case of hitting the Brightness / Contrast sliders in AFFINITY, so I've also got to learn to understand layers better. One thing I have learned from rmalarz is good results don't come cheaply and it'll take a lot of practice before I can produce something like this instinctively.

Nicely done John. I especially like the interior shot of the chapel. I'm on the computer in front of the "telly" watching the funeral of QE II right now. Incredible orchestration! She's certainly befitting of such a grandiose farewell. I've never (in my 74 years) seen anything like this.
