Hi,at the minute I am using a Pentax X90 bridge with 26x optical zoom and 12.1 megapixels but am considering buying a Nikon D3000 DSLR at 10.2 megapixels,my question is what would give me the better quality photo with the difference in pixels?Would I be better off getting a new bridge camera just?

If its megapixels....then maybe look at the D3200....or maybe a higher end bridge camera...more zoom...megapixels...that kinda thing.
I am comming to the conclusion that TODAY, how many pixels you have does not determine the quality of picture... From what I have seen, higher end Bridge cameras do one hell of a job...
A high end pixel camers with mediocre lens will not produce as good as a lower pixel cam with top quality lens...
For the average photographer, I recommend a good bridge camera...
I'm not an expert at anything but, I have a non-functioning 15 (or more)year old Olympus digital with 2.1 megapixels that produced absolutely beautiful prints, even poster size. I recently took the poster size photo to a festival and everyone wanted to buy it. So don't fall for the higher megapixel hype.
