I think the text here may be Russian
I would grateful to anyone that could translate enough of this to tell what I have .And roughly what they are used for. I would think they are gauge blocks for some specific job and are they metric? somewhere on the paper I did see 1979!!
Thank you very much

Can't read the writing but it looks like you've got a metric set of precision machinists gage blocks and the proof sheet for their tolerances.

I worked maintenance at the Toyota plant here in Georgetown and our machine shop had a set of these. Our rough machine work rarely needed these tolerances but they were handy to use for some setups on the mill.

Looks like the front row left block is 90 mm, and the right is 100mm. You could stack different blocks together to add up to a needed dimension.

Thank you Marshall
I figured they were Gage blocks, knowing they are metric helps, but then I don't do anything that requires that kind of accuracy . the only reason I got them it was a package Deal with two Starrett. mics 0-1" and 1-2" for $10 plus gasoline, 175 miles, but I was going to be in that area anyway.

It looks like Cyrillic, Russian or some similar related language to me but I can not read it. If the units are mm and cm you can probably use them. Most cultures and languages use the same Arabic Numerals as English. So I can read numbers, numeric dates, etc. in Spanish, Chinese, what have you. But I don't know what is being said about the numbers in foreign languages. Also many languages leave proper names in their native language. So you can probably use Russian Gauge Blocks as is.

LOl I don't work in metrics very often, usually I am making a new part and just measure it and usually the parts don't have to be super accurate.

FYI, Android on phones/tablets have a built-in feature where you can aim the lens of your device at text and it will translate it. I had some plates with Arabic on the back. I aimed my tablet at one and got an instant translation: "Made In Taiwan."

I see - when I dowloaded and looked at it at home it has column for manufacture , factory , defect ID and true ( measured) dimensions . LMK if you need more information I grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine so I natively speak both Russian and Ukrainian.

Send these to Putin. He might need these to gauge his way out of his current predicament.
Sorry couldn't resist.

Thank you very much freediver
There is very little data entered on the sheet.
My curiosity now is how did they end up in the US. My guess would be someone bought them online. The guy I got then from didn't even know what they were.
I have given them to my son-in-law.
