How early is too early?

My wife and I were out running errands this afternoon and evening that involved a good bit of driving. We both noticed the same thing and commented on it. We're not even halfway through September and the new school semester only started a couple weeks ago, and it is still summer, and people are already putting up Christmas decorations. We went to two different big box stores and both had fully stocked Christmas departments open, and it is still summer. It wasn't that long ago when they didn't start shoving Christmas down our throats at least until after Halloween. Who thinks this is just way too early to kick off Christmas? After all, it is still summer, for at least another 11 days.

It's all about the money. Just like college football.

They wouldn’t take up the floor and shelf space if people weren’t buying.

WAY too early....

(I grew up with the day after Thanksgiving.)

But it's all about marketing now.

Me. In my humble opinion that no one cares about but me, Christmas decorations shouldn’t go up until after Thanksgiving.

After Thanksgiving is a lot more appropriate. But money rules.

I would prefer not to see Christmas items until after Thanksgiving. As others have stated....it's all about the money.

What a coincidence, I was a kid when you were a kid! Our town had the tree lighting ceremony after Thanksgiving, and no one put up Christmas lights/decorations until the 1st week in December.

My hometown switched on the community Christmas tree lights on black Friday morning, officially kicking of the start of the Christmas season. The lights were shut off on January 6th.
