I watched on television. The only saving grace was that a group of my former colleagues had just been transferred to new quarters in Queens.

Hi all NEVER FORGET,
I did not want to include the link, for the reason as not to send to links, to this amazing feat of people all pulling together to get the survivors out of lower Manhattan,
So here it is;

I saw the 2nd tower fall from the window of the teacher’s lounge at my school in Queens. It was on the TV at the same time.

My father passed away suddenly 10 days before the Towers were attacked. My brother, me and our wives, after 4 years of watching him slowly fade from our lives due to Alzheimer's, decided to take a short vacation to San Diego to decompress after his funeral. At about 6 A.M., the phone rang in our hotel room. It was my daughter calling and telling us to turn on the television. We were watching the report of the plane crashing into the first tower when suddenly, we witnessed the 2nd plane slam into the 2nd tower. We were in shock, immediately cancelled the rest our vacation and within an hour, were headed north to home in the Los Angeles area. The freeways were eerily empty. The world was in the same stupor as we. To this day, I am reminded of the horror of it all and am grateful that my father didn't live to see the country he defended in World War II suffer the blow it did on that morning.
