I have given some thought lately about human behavior and wonder what it is that compels the building of monuments. Often they are an amazing amalgam of art, architecture and engineering, but I keep wondering why they were built in the first place. Whatever the impetus, I'm glad they're there.
…maybe just that…like a photograph it’s a record that we were here…?
Just artistic expression for the most part, I suppose? I love most of it. It's probably a part of why I do photography. The only way I have found to express myself artistically. Can't paint. Can't sing. Can't play a musical instrument. My wife will tell you I'm telling the truth when I say I can't dance! But I did by a camera with money from my first job!

These are sure beautiful, Bob, but in some parts of the country they are ripping them down due to the "offensive" concepts they represent 😩😩😩😩😩
Go figure

It tuens out most of these images were associated with the Americsn Revolutionary War, and so far, no one has been trying to remove them.
Unfortunately the hoodlums have torn down a lot of the statues and the towns are taking the rest down so as to "protect" them...and these idiots are tearing them all down, South, North, Educators, etc., it doesn't make any difference to these uneducated thugs and the liberal police are doing absolutely nothing about it.
These statues regardless of one's take on particular individual examples seem to be about remembering and honoring. I wonder if as the number of photographs increase if the number of statues will decrease. After all we don't need a statue to remember what either Joe Biden or Donald Trump looked like.

Not for this generation. What about the next...and the next? Photos don't quite do it, for me. As much as I love a well done photograph.
Marvelous job photographing them
