Where is Madera Canyon? We were in Portal a couple of weeks ago and found it a wonderful and colourful place.
Didn't find as many of creatures as we thought. Only Couse Deer, a Gila monster, 1 Javelina and a whole lot of beautiful caterpillars.
We do want to go back and Madera Canyon would also tempt us.

Portal is a beautiful place that is primarily famous for its birds. Madera Canyon is about 30 miles south of Tucson. Again primarily a birding location. If you are into hiking it provides a strenuous hike to the top of Mt. Wrightson, a little over 9500 feet. Lodging and camping is available in the canyon.
