LOL... Thom, no I am not sick as you may be, who knows? I will say that it would appear that an awful lot of effort is being made at teaching our children at inappropriately young ages about sex, and g****r exploration, not to mention a strong focus on Zin's version of history and CRT. Seemingly the basics, merit little priority in the classroom these days. The School Unions demanded and got 100's of billions of dollars in C***d funds so students could come back to the classrooms, the unions helped the systems take the money yet the children were not allowed back into the classrooms and now we are going to lose a generation of students, all I have to say is.... Thank you Democrats...

Glad my grandchildren live in Florida, maybe they will someday be signing your grandchildren's paychecks.

Randi Weingarten Flunks the P******c

National test results reveal the damage from school closures.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) scores for 2022 were released Thursday, and by any standard they are a calamity. An unprecedented decline in reading and math scores is the first national measure of the damage done by school closures to America’s children.

The 2020 NAEP tests were administered shortly before p******c lockdowns and school closures, so this year’s results provide a snapshot of how students have weathered those two years. It’s not pretty. Average nine-year-old scores declined the most on record in math (seven points) and in reading since 1990 (five points). Two decades of progress have been erased in two years.

Results were even worse for lower-income and minority students. Math scores fell by 13 points for black students and eight points for Hispanics compared to five points for w****s. Reading scores for low-income students fell twice as much as for others.

Higher achievers fared somewhat better but still did worse than two years ago. Scores for students at the 90th percentile fell two points in reading versus 10 points for those in the bottom 10th percentile. The gap between high and low performers had been growing before the p******c, but now has widened even more, as have racial disparities.

The education website The 74 offered the grim silver lining that the scores “remain higher than 1970s.” Some comfort.

You’d think this would be cause for reflection by our education elites, but no such luck. Media headlines blamed “the p******c,” as if C****-** ran America’s school districts and decided to force students to sit at home in front of screens for more than a year. Educators—as they call themselves—did that.


National Center for Education Statistics Commissioner Peggy Carr had a grab-bag of excuses for the tragic learning loss: “School shootings, violence, and classroom disruptions are up, as are teacher and staff vacancies, absenteeism, cyberbullying, and students’ use of mental health services. This information provides some important context for the results we’re seeing from the long-term trend assessment.”

She missed the “classroom disruptions” of not being able to go to class at all.

American Federation of Teachers chief Randi Weingarten, who pushed shutdowns as long as she possibly could before parents revolted, tried to forget this ever happened with her statement on Twitter: “Thankfully after two years of disruption from a p******c that k**led more than 1 mil Americans, schools are already working on helping kids recover and thrive. This is a year to accelerate learning by rebuilding relationships, focusing on the basics.” But she and her union were the chief disrupters.

America’s teachers unions demanded that schools be kept shut even as they remained open in Europe. At the same time unions used the p******c to extort money from Congress. Schools received some $190 billion in federal C***d relief to safely reopen and address learning losses, but schools stayed closed and much of the money still hasn’t been spent.

After the first months of C***d uncertainty, the school shutdowns had nothing to do with safety. You flunked the p******c, Randi, and set back America’s children for years.

And we know what they say about opinions..... But seriously - although I am a flaming liberal, I think that all this "knowing everyone's preferred pronoun" is nonsense. "What g****r were you assigned at birth"? ASSIGNED? No one "assigned" you a g****r! As a physician who has delivered babies, I never felt that I was "assigning" a g****r to someone when I filled out the birth certificate! I was documenting the external g*****lia - the genetic phenotype, if you will. If anyone "assigned" your g****r, it was God. Or the melding of your parents DNA - so blame them. I refuse to accept responsibility for knowing with what pronoun you think you should be referred. And I refuse to refer to someone as "them/they" - these are plural pronouns, and even if you suffer from multiple personality disorder (the only people who should have a legitimate claim to those pronouns...) I will refer to you by your apparent phenotype - he/him or she/her. And if you make yourself appear sexually ambiguous, well then that is on you. I will try my best with "he" or "her". The only thing I promise is that I will always try to treat you with respect, no matter what weird s**t is going on in your head.

Much to the dismay of the corrupt left, we need more football coaches teaching civics and other core courses in school. These teachers have become anecdotal in many of our school systems that now lean towards the 'woke' education you speak of. That includes the 'cancel culture' that's becoming more and more prevalent.

I'd bet if you compare major urban schools to country schools in any of these states, you'd find the real problem. Large cities are mostly liberal in their thinking, thus falling for the Woke ideals.

I rarely agree with you but this is a very reasonable response, I have no problem with people living a lifestyle they choose, I do have a problem with the emphasis that our public education systems is placing on exploring sexual identity at all, no less at a very early age. Let people find their own way in life, don't push them down a favored path which I fear is happening in our public education system. For the life of me I don't understand when the educational charter of our public system changed to radical ideology but to deny that has happened is to deny a reality that has clearly been bought out into the open. Our schools by any measure are failing our students and it would seem to many that those in charge of educating our children are focusing on the wrong things. We have major corporations in this country lobbying congress for worker visas because the American work force is not prepared for advanced manufacturing or technology jobs and our schools rather than focusing on fixing that are caught up on 1619 and g****r assignments. It is just wrong.

But I do thank you for a well reasoned and honest response.
