Early Packard Runabout (probably 1907-1910) - there was no info on this car.
Packards came about from the Winton the same way Lamborghinis came about from Ferrari.
Packard was founded by James Ward Packard, his brother William and their partner, George Lewis Weiss, in Warren, Ohio, where 400 Packard automobiles were built at their factory on 408 Dana Street Northeast, from 1899 to 1903. A mechanical engineer, James Packard believed they could build a better horseless carriage than the Winton cars owned by Weiss, an important Winton stockholder, after Packard complained to Alexander Winton and offered suggestions for improvement, which were ignored. Winton replied to the suggestions by essentially telling Packard to "go build your own car". Packard's first car was built in Warren, Ohio, on November 6, 1899.

They just don't make cars the way they used to.

Thank goodness. My pickup has 210,000 or so miles on and our car 106,000. Other than routine care, tires, a few batteries and a transmission and clutch for the pickup they've been trouble free.
But I know what you mean, up until the 70's (IMHO) cars had character. Now they pretty much look the same, even the high-dollar performance cars. There are some real beauties in the older cars.

Kim, is that a rumble seat of sorts? It looks like two brass handles to hold onto behind the seats. Interesting.
That is a beauty. Looks like they had no confidence in the tires with two spares on board.

And that’s a good thing. I wouldn’t want to be caught out in the rain in those vintage motor carriages.
