"Toll Free Call"

My caller ID has been showing "Toll Free Call" lately. That turns out to be a telemarketer of some kind. Usually, the ID indicates "Spam Risk." In either case, I pick up and hang up.

Let it ring. If you answer it can detect that and keep you on the list. There is also a do not call list that you can do a Google search. It ends in .gov and will stop the legitimate telemarketers.

Apparently, the Do Not Call list got over-worked and quit. : )

Edit: I checked, and my land line and cell phone are both listed. The problem is that charities and politicians are allowed to make calls, and I get several a day.

We used to get ten to twelve telemarketer calls a day. I went to China's outlet store in America better known as Walmart and picked up a call blocker. After a couple of days of blocking calls now we two sometimes three a day. It works better then the Government's 'Do Not Call'

And there’s also NoMoRobo (free for home phones). It doesn’t get them all, but dramatically decreases the number. Your phone provider needs to support forwarding (Spectrum does). If the caller is in their list, it intercepts the call and gives them an option to dial thru for legitimate callers (no one ever does). You may also add troublesome numbers to their list.

I had a great call blocker - CPR 5000. Then it started blocking calls of family and friends, and their excellent customer report disappeared.

It looks like my landline is already protected. From what? Alien attacks? I get at least half a dozen calls a day, and this will continue till Election Day in November. To protect a mobile line, I have to download an app. Later.

We don't have a landline, only cell phones. I keep mine on "Block unknown callers", if you are not in my contacts list, you don't get through, but you can leave me a voice mail. If I am expecting a call from someone that is not in my list I'll take it off call blocking. It seems to have really cut down on spam calls.
