I would like to have a website that I can use as a Photo Club with my Grandchildren (eight of them). They are between the ages of 5 and 16. I want them to have a "Monthly Challenge" and a way to upload their pictures so we can all see them. A way to critique the photos, and a page for teaching about how to take better photos. Something along those lines. I have tried using a couple of site builders but I just can't seem to comprehend all that I have to do to get it working. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Buy Serif WebPlus. If you can use a word processor you will figure it out. It's easy.

intuit.com $10 /yr for domain name. $8 to set up website and $7/mo to host. VERY easy to set up the site. VERY easy to add images.

I would suggest Google Sites. Http://sites.google.com

Absolutely free, no ads, and they have a lot of templates to start from.

This one is free, but I have never used it.

Instead of a website, I think you might do better with a forum ... similar to this one we're all using. With a website it would be difficult for everyone to upload photos, make comments, etc.

With a forum, you can easily do all those things.

There are many free options to create your own forum. Here are a few you can check out:
http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=create+your+own+forum&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest

There might even be a way to combine a website and a forum. But I don't have any information about that.

After a quick search, here is a way you can have a website and a forum together. Use Weebly:

http://www.weebly.com/

I've used Weebly for several years, but have never had a need for a forum. It's very simple for beginners, but also useful for more advanced users. You can start off for totally free, using the weebly suffix: for example, myfamily.weebly.com

Later you can buy your own domain for about $10 a year, and drop the weebly suffix: i.e., myfamily.com

Also, under the options, under "More" there is a forum creator by Tal.ki. You can have a simple forum for no cost. But to upload photos you'll need to purchase a forum upgrade ... $5.99 a month, or $39.95 a year, paid annually.

Even though Weebly is easy, for a brand new person making a website it might be a little slow to begin with. For someone like me, it's second nature. But take your time and you'll soon get the hang of it, and have a great family learning/sharing site that all the grandkids can participate in.

Have fun!

You need a domain name, GoDaddy is the most popular. Web hosting from a solid reputable company. iPage.com has one of the best ratings and is fairly priced.

Install Wordpress and you will have a site you can set up and tinker with to your hearts content. Wordpress is free with thousands of free templates and tutorials. You don't need to learn programing to use it.

Beware of the "free" sites. They will put advertising on your site and often change the rules then leave you out in the cold. You will spend around $130 a year or less to maintain your own site.

It might happen with some sites, but never on Weebly that I know about. I've used Weebly for several years and never had any added advertising, rule changes, or hidden costs.

Don, go to shutterfly.com. They have a share option that will make a wed page for you and you can put all the kids on it. They will be able to post all their pictures as well as look at and download everybody elses. Best of all, it is free.

I needed to make a website in a short period of time and my brother who builds websites recommended the following site. I was able to complete my site in a few days and it was very successful. I had never built a site before and I also am no expert by any stretch of the imagination.

I just checked out the Shutterfly.com recommended by popajerry. I signed up and started creating a site with photos, messages, and a lot more in less than 10 minutes.

Seems like a good place to start. Best of all it can be limited strictly to your family.

I am truly thankful to all who have participated in helping me to get the website or forum that I am trying to get up and running. This is really the best Forum that I have ever had the privilege of being associated with. I am going to look at all the possibilities and see if I can get one up. I will let everyone know how this turns out
Thank you, Thank you

I too use Shutterfly. You can make your family (we have eight grand children as well) site members so they can upload their pictures and comments. You can restrict the content to members only or open to all who stumble on your site. Your call.
