Look at these numbers concerning a new Japanese train. 9.2° Kelvin, 603 kph, 700,000 Amps. It sounds like sci-fi, but it seems to be real.

700,000 amps would waiste a lot of power in the wires but at 9.2 degrees Kelvin it prevents such loss.

If you say so.

The video description is mind boggling.

Fascinating - can't wait to hear the greenies blather about how the superconducting magnets interfere with bird's navigation and will cause the magnetic poles to flip along with male pattern baldness!

I used to live near the Fermi lab in Batavia Illinois. It has the acceleration rings 1 mile diameter with superconducting electromagnet for many years.

Is it true that cars had a hard time driving near that?

nope! I drove around the ring before. They have the new more powerful ring now. They sure use a lot ot liquid nitrogen to cool things down.

Shanghai has had a maglev from the airport to downtown running for nearly 20 years. Older design so « only » goes 430km/hr but very smooth and convenient, beats the city traffic. this looks to be a step ahead. Very Japanese to test continuously for 10 years to be sure it’s safe!

Will it charge up your electric vehicle as you drive alongside it?

Has anyone ever put more than a penny on the tracks? I presume the result would be the same with a harder metal.

Over 65 years ago, I put a penny on top of a nickel. I wish I had kept that.

Did it mash them together?

I would rather see numbers for the hydrogen fuel cell trains and other vehicles. Making EVs go faster while much of the generation is still done by burning carbon is not that impressive; it is just engineering.
