ON1 2023 Next Major Update

Hmm, I received an invitation email from ON1 today. It was for a "secret" early bird upgrade to the 2023 version of ON1 PR. I clicked on the link and a page opened, which told how exciting the upgrade would be and how I was getting the invite because I was a 2022 license holder. When I clicked on the "Order Now" button, I realized why the previous page said the changes were "mind blowing." The upgrade price has jumped "for this mind blowing good" deal to $150 (marked down from $230) and the subscription priced was $150 (down from $180). I've upgraded the last 3 years in a row since buying it in 2018. I think that's it.

Follow-up - I just read on Facebook and I didn't notice this before but the $150 includes all the plugins that are normally sold separately, like resize AI, denoise AI, etc. My immediate thought was what percentage of users have the main program and also use the separate/standalone plugins?

I got the same email, and I was going to post about it. (Maybe I did.) The one I got was for the 2022.5 version, but I bet there will be a 2023 version, as well. I could get either the upgrade or the subscription for $150.

Looking on their website, the prices were a lot lower - $80 and $90, I think. It seems to me that pricing is getting unreasonable. $150 every six months, to make my pictures look better?

Going with the $90 subscription, it's cheaper than Adobe, but as far as I'm concerned, it's an unnecessary expense.

I may be mistaken but I believe the offer was for ON1 plus, not the version without some extra features. I'll wait and see what pricing they come up with when it's available for download.

So explain to me again, how this is cheaper than the Adobe Subscription.

Lots of incorrect information here - this is an early bird offer to existing owners. It includes 2023, all of the plugins, a plus membership which gives you lots of great educational videos for only plus members, monthly goodies, a fair amount of online storage (1TB) AND all new products. It is a subscription plan and you will pay ONCE a year.

The SUBSCRIPTION is $149 (says going up to $179) per year and only includes the 2023 Raw when it is released as well as updates during that year and the current plugins. The new plan called On1 Everything Plus is priced at $149, discounted from the list price of $229 for this early bird discount.

So if you like subscription plans and want/need the extra stuff (plus membership, 1TB online storage, and all new products) it may be a good deal for YOU. And it says you can go back to a perpetual license at any time.

Currently for me it isnt. I am grandfather Plus Pro member for the perpetual license ONLY. It gives me a bit more information and gifts. I don’t need the plugins (honestly the way Lightroom Classic and Photoshop handle plugins doing exports to On1 Raw is as easy), I don’t need the online storage so the only advantage might be the new apps. But if On1 follows the approach they did for both NoNoise and Resize AI, they will release them first as plugins and in the next update to Raw they will be part of the product. No way to guarantee that but.

And if you have been seeing the teaser videos on On1 Raw 2023, you will see they are adding some significant features that brings them closer to the features in Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.

I've been a long-time subscriber to On1, but I will not be renewing. Lightroom Classic and Photoshop do all that I need, and often times better.
