Belize, Akumal and Cozumel...
Just pictures...I dont know the Technical names of most of the critters I see (maybe George can help =) ! )
No.1 is sharp tail eel
No. 2 is eagle ray
No. 3 is green turtle
No. 4 I think is from the surgeonfish family
crittter-hunter...knew the eagle ray and turtle. Thought the eel was some kinf of a sea'snake' and the sharp tail...had no clue! Just love the whole underwater world. and yes...Im going to ask you more about Roatan! Thanks that you want to offer info! I will be getting back to you on that! I just have the nikon coolpix aw100. Used to use the sealife d5000 and d7000 but sooo hard to see the fish with the camera casing and since we just snorkel dont really feel the need for anything 'bigger' or 'better', yet!
by the way...why do my pictures look sooo much better on this site then they do on my computer moniter? Strange...
Could be this website reduces the size of your pics and make them look sharper. I noticed the same pic from my desktop looks better when loaded on my IPad... Sure some of the techies could answer better.
My wife is a snorkeler uses the Canon Power Shot D10 good to 35' I think. Would be great if it could go deeper, I would leave wide angle on my DSLR and clip the little one to my BC for Macro.
going to Belize (2nd time) in Nov., two weeks over Thanksgiving. We liked it there...but very interested in Roatan...actually any new place in the caribbean that has snorkeling 'right off the beach'.
I've dived Belize years ago and the snorkeling was good at Shark Ray Alley. But you need to hire a boat to get there.
The diving is much better in Roatan and the beach in West Bay is great with snorkeling right off the beach.
If you need more details send an email and I'll give you more info. Been there 10 times.
