I've been very satisfied with my new-to-me D500, but noticed an issue after reviewing macro shots of a wasp's nest today.
Please see jpg and offer any comments suggestions. There seem to be magenta squares and white squares.
I'm past the 21-day KEH return date so I hope I'm not s.o.l. I've sent them an email.

How about a couple of arrows to point out the discrepancy. In my experience Hot pixels are very small and show up as bright points of color depending on the pixel and dead pixels are a black pinpoint dot.

Looks like two red hot ones and one dead one in the top left dark area. A couple here and there in other places.
Nothing I'd worry about unless I were to be concerned about each individual pixel.....
I'll guess a lot of cameras probably have a few funny pixels somewhere in the matrix.

Thanks, i am on the phone so hard to see. It is very hard to find a sensor or display without hot and or dead pixels. The manufacturers have set a limit on the number bad pixels that are acceptable, i forgot but I believe it very low like 4 or 5 that a sensor or display may have. Hot pixels are more annoying than dead ones. In any case 5 pixels out of millions is pretty darn good.

Yea, I don't think you'll see them on a phone.
There are more that 5 in that shot, but only if I pixel peep.
It boils down to how much perfection one requires.
(I've not looked at my camera for hot/dead pixels in 12 years.
One day I'll do it for kicks & giggles, then get back to shooting.

The only way they're really apparent to me is by hitting the magnify button and I have a 43" monitor... but regardless of all that, I thought KEH had a 180-day warranty on everything except 'ugly' and 'as-is'?

Doesn't this camera have the mean to map out the dead or stuck pixels and to exclude them from showing up.
And also, some software can detect these pixels and remove them. Lightroom can and DxO Photolab can. Only works when starting with a RAW file.

Regardless of a couple of pixels...pretty cool shot.
My old D50 has several hot ones. If you REALLY zoom in they show up as square white or bluish.

Are they consistent? In the same spot in different shots? How about a photo of a uniform color so you can really see them? Do they change with ISO?

Duplicate fat finger response.

Heavily over sharpened crop from the lower righthand corner of the original.

Theres a procedure for some Canons invoving a ~40 sec exposure of the back of the lens cap at max ISO, followed by another exposure. No raw files required. It clears them up for quite a while but ultimately the exact same ones return.

I seriously doubt that will show up in a print.
(But it does exist.)
