Big Turkey

This big guy intimidates the other turkeys. We might have two dozen on the lawn, and when he comes along, they all make room for him.

I also have a picture of a big pile of bear poop left in driveway. I'm not posting that, though. People accuse me of posting too much s**t, as it is.

Would that big feather hanging down be considered a turkey mullet?

It is actually called a beard, seen mostly on males.

Yep, it's called a beard. And, oddly enough, they are a big part of what makes a trophy as opposed to just a Turkey. Rarely, they have two. And, rarely, hens have them too. And even more rare, hens have two. I posted a photo of a hen with two beards from Myakka River State Park, Florida a couple months ago.

He's a proud looking turkey, Jerry. I can see why the others show him deference. I am always pleased to spot wild turkeys.

This guy is looking for you. Can I give him directions to your house? He can take his friends with him, and they can stop digging up my yard.

Ours don't run from a camera. You have to go after them with a Nerf gun.

What's funny is seeing a bunch of them in a tree.

The only Turkeys we see over here are in the freezer section in a supermarket!
