Adapter for Olympus OM-1 hotshoe

I just got a new OM-1 and noticed the hot shoe was smaller than my Canon flash foot. Does anyone make an adapter for this situation? BTW. Very pleased with the OM-1 Thanks

if you have the original om-1 with the removeable hot shoe, a large top heavy flash will gradually crack the black plastic between prism top and the shoe itself. Use a bracket, solve two issues at once.
If any such adapter does exist, the increased height would just make the problem worse.

You might want to sell your Canon flash and buy the OM/OMDS flash. It is weatherproof along with the OM-1. Go shooting in the rain with your flash like I have. You will need to have most of the rain blocked that is closest to the camera, but the flash can still be used in the rain. Haven't tried shooting in the snow yet, but have no reason to believe that it can't be done.

Mine is the most recent version. The hot shoe is not removable. So does anyone make an adapter?

Thanks. I really want to mount my transmitter to it and control my flashes from the camera. Does anyone make that kind of adapter?

I just did and although I did not read the whole page, there seem to be some workable ones.

Olympus/OMDS makes such an accessory and from everything I have found it works very well. If I am correct, the camera accessory can be used to change the remote flash levels from the camera.

Hmm very odd. I have Nikon and Olympus cameras. The hot shoes are the same size and I have some generic accessories that fit either camera. I think all hot shoes are the same size.
The following is from Wikipedia:
The hot shoe is a development of the standardised "accessory shoe", with no flash contacts, formerly fitted to cameras to hold accessories such as a rangefinder, or flash connected by a cable.
The dimensions of the hot shoe are defined by the International Organization for Standardization in ISO 518:2006. Details such as trigger voltage are not standardised; electrical incompatibilities are still possible between brands.
Here is an example of a manual flash Than fits Cannon and Olympus.

If you have a TTL flash for Nikon or Cannon and put in on an Olympus Camera it won't work. The pin outs on the hot shoe are different so TTL won't work.
BTW are sure you do not have the lock engaged on the flash.

The op here is referring to the film camera. I am quite sure the op here is referring to new digital camera.

After being told they are the same size as Canons, I checked again. I'm a klutz- they are the same size. Just looked smaller.

If you decide to purchase a new flash unit, take a look at the Godox line. They make several specific for Olympus cameras.

Which OM-1 are you talking about. The brand new digital camera OM-1? Because all versions of the old film OM-1 have removable hot shoe.
