I have some questions for you:

I Brought My 70-200-mm f/2.8 L IS II USM in 2017 The Gasket is peeling off Love the lens Did this happen to anyone else if yes how much did it cost?

before anyone ask I have send it in every years but when the Warranty ended on it
I did not send it for a checkup or cleaning. that is a bad way to learn but now on I will paid for the checkups and cleaning on it and my other lenses and other cameras

A Friend on here Ask me one day if I have CPS I said no and never ask him what is it? or how did it work?

If this is something I can still buys and it will help me on my other lenses or any of my camera I will buy it. I do have some more out of Warranty that why I would like to know if anyone else have the CPS how does it worked for you?

I do have another Question to ask I went to the Coast the other day an saw these two ships and took some pictures of Grand-kids WHAT is good setting for The Coast The sun was out and it was warm .

Which you don't get that nice every time when you go there most of the time it is Cloudy or just a nice day.
I just Brought a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lense I really like it that what I used for my Pictures not all came out what setting do you use on it and the EF70-200mm f/2.8 ?

I have some questions for you: br br I Brought My... (show quote)

I have never had a gasket come off.
I have a couple of EF L lenses that are relatively old and gaskets are fine so far.
Looks like a repair is needed.

I don't know what CPS is, so I Googled it. Here is what I got, and none of them seem to be applicable to photography:

https://www.abbreviations.com/CPS

Since your friend seems to know, I don't know why you didn't ask him.

Canon Professional Services allows you to have an account where you list your Canon current product with serial numbers. Each item is given a number value from 0 to 12 (I think). Your accumulated number total gives you access to different levels of membership privileges that include cleanings, repairs, loaners, etc. With 10 points you can get a free membership but no real discounts or perks except learning and some support. Paid memberships get you the perks as listed here:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/myportal/us/home/support/canon-professional-services/about-cps

I use it for rotating my cameras and lenses through yearly maintenance, some each year others every 2 years. I have also done evaluation loans and taken advantage of the repair department. I just ask for shipping labels, fill out the maintenance/repair form and send the items in.

Admin can move it, intact, for you to the Gallery section or Critique section. Looks to me more suitable to the Gallery than the Critique.

"Live and Learn" is not a UHH section. I was just echoing your thread title.

Ignore the trolls...

There can be only a few different contexts.

Insurance

Repair

Lubricant

He probably means Canon Repair Services...since it sounds like you are past using a dry silicone.
I do apply some every year or so...then let them dry out a few days before using them...do some I'm not planning on using...then swap out. Just part of good maintenance.

You'll have to get it replaced...any decent repair shop can do it. You'll pay more if Canon does it...but at that point...tell them to give it the once over...clean it inside and out.

In for a penny...in for a pound.

Details vary from camera to camera but all advanced cameras have some sort of AI auto exposure mode that can detect strong back lighting and other "fool the meter" scenes.

Youll hafta figger out your particular camera but heres two hints about finding the controls you need. There are two areas that address "difficult scenes":

1. Metering patterns, especially if one is called Matrix or Multi-Zone.
2. AE Modes, look for controls about Scene or Subject Recognition, possibly claiming AI.

Also, learn when to shoot raw+jpeg files as "insurance", if not always, at least in tricky situations. Raw is not just for geeks. Its also for CYA. Newish cameras can procees raw to jpeg in-camera without a PC yet allow you to repair some degree of exposure error and WB error, and to crop a bit if needed.

Examples of in-camera raw to jpeg processing menus, showing some of the corrections menus:
