I noticed hornets hanging around my hummingbird feeders chasing off the birds. Here are a few photos I took showing the interaction. Although they do add to the photos.

I am not a fan of hornets, so I have begun an "a-salt" campaign with my "Bug-A-Salt" gun to discourage their presence.

Very nice captures. I hope all survive! I am, myself not fond of wasps but they probably have a role in the overall picture!

Interesting shoot. Stinging insects are hummers' greatest fear. The little birds know their size makes it impossible to withstand the toxic shock of a sting. They fight each other but run from insects with stingers. Unusual to see both in close proximity.

Great set! Same here. Noted an Anna’s “head butting” the wasps-Mason Wasps mostly- so he could get at the feeder. Thanx for sharing!

Thanks for your comments. I didn't have this problem until this year, must be the year of the hornets (or wasps).

Poul,
Thanks for your comments.

The ones that hang out in my mailbox usually don't make it, but these just seem to move on when there is no sugar water on the outside of the feeder.

Thank you for your very interesting comments. I didn't think about their risk around these insects, but it makes sense.
