I have no experience with the Nikkormat. I had an F Photomic back in the day.

My dad owned two Nikkormats, which were my introduction to the world of Nikon. Since then I've owned the Nikon F Photomic FTn, F3HP, and FM2n. I also have some experience with the FE2 and FM3a. IMO the main downside to the Nikkormats were the relatively dim low contrast viewfinders. Until you have a Nikkormat and an FM2n side-by-side the differences may seem slight but having handled both IMO the differences are pronounced and sufficient that I consider the Nikkormat line unsatisfactory. YMMV

I had picked up Nikon a EM for a lady affiliate,
and I still have the camera. Still EZ to use and takes great shots,
Maybe @ $10% of those "F" things on ebay.

I still have my FM2 with both focus screens. PM me if you want it. I loved it but I have not used in in so many years I have lost track. I'd never go back to film. It's a sentimental "objet" like my Minox 35 folding pocket camera.

I still have my Nikon F from 1963 when I bought it. It doesn't work, but is for sentimental value only. My first Nikkormat was bought from Hong Kong in 1968 for 97 dollars as a grey market body to use on my staff newspaper job in Seattle as a second camera body. Out of the 16 Nikon bodies I owed and mostly wore out or drowned doing water oriented assignments was the Nikon 8008 which was made to sell the TTL flash units which synced at 250 of a second if I recall correctly. When I went completely digital in 2003, I sold my three 8008 bodies to a guy just starting out with film as a favor for $20. My only regret is that I didn't by a rangefinder Nikon in the last 1950's when I was was in the Navy in Japan. What a set of collecables a pair of those would be now. I bought a rangefinder Canon VT Deluxe with a 50 MM F1.2 lens instead of the Nikon because it was on sale for $30 less Than the Nikon rangefinder at the Navy store at $130.

I don't miss the 750 rolls of slide film I shot most years on stock and assignment before I went digital.

I have a 1971 Nikon F/FTN Photomic that still works and gets used a lot. I received it as a Christmas present. I'm thinking of purchasing a replacement meter just in case this one goes south.

I have the same camera. The meter was damaged by a drop to concrete in 1984. I had it repaired, but it is only accurate in the horizontal position. Fortunately, I had two Nikon F3 bodies at work I could use whenever I wanted to. I bought one of them when we shut down our AV production lab.

Nikon rangefinders could never compete with the Leica and thus they are now rare and valuable.
