i made these butterfly beacons a part of my deck garden...
and have butterflies, skippers, and hummingbirds that love them.
they are called pentas or starflowers. they come in red, pink, purple, and white,
and have clusters of tiny star-shaped flowers that are laden with nectar. they
provide easy access for the butterfly proboscis. the red pentas are the best!
pentas are easy to grow.

if you deadhead the faded clusters they will bloom all summer and into the fall

the deer love them for a snack, so i always put mine on the deck.

Thank you dennis...they are easy and the bees like them too!
Thank you for your comment, Jerry.
You can't go wrong with pentas.
I think your efforts paid great dividends.
I like the photos! I think one of the deer should make it into your freezer as payment for all the trouble and travail that you have to put up with all year.!
