Thank you very much for sharing these photos. I have never visited a ghost town and, like some of the others commenting, would be interested in knowing how they became "ghosts." Many thanks once again for posting these evocative pictures.

We come through about once a year and it is getting easier to see the effects of time and tide. These old beauties are struggling to stay upright and maintain their dignity. Not much left of this once prosperous town that supplied charcoal to the foundry's of Ogden and Salt Lake City. Some of the charcoal kilns have been restored and I will post a few photo of them in another post.

Great set Jed. I love old ghost towns. What was the name of this one.

Thank you for your comments, Khalid and you are very welcome...always enjoy sharing photos on uglyhedgehog.com!! Ghost towns are primarily those where no one resides anymore and structures are left abandoned. Ghost towns harbor "ghosts" similar to cemetery's. Left alone..."once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary" a person's imagination can run wild hearing sounds and seeing dancing shadows and conjure up thoughts of ghosts or demons of the past. Abandoned towns and cemetery's are natural locations for ghosts to reside...and they do!!

Many thanks, mt...always look forward to your generous responses. As a widow for only a few years and no family close by, we often include her in our gatherings/activities. She is very appreciative and a wonderful woman so we enjoy having her along!!

Many thanks, Joe and glad you stopped by and enjoyed this series. Google "Piedmont, WY for info and photos taken in its heyday. I'm gonna post a few photos of the charcoal kilns so you can see it was a "one industry" town so to speak.
