My sister is going on a cruise and will not have access to the internet. She would like a program that she can use to create a photo book while she is offline on the cruise and when she gets home and online, she can upload the book and have it printed.
She has a Mac. She is going with a friend who has a PC and would like to be able to do the same thing. Is there a program you would recommend? Or one for the Mac and one for the PC? Lightroom would be way more than what she wants.

I can't imagine there is no internet availability on a cruise.

We upload photos to Mac Photos and copy photos to use in the book into an album. Select create, book in the dropdown menu. This takes you to Motif. Follow the directions and publish your book. We have had very good success with Motif.
For Windows, I have used ams-collage.com pro version ~$50, and it will make a photobook from your photos with just a minimal effort. Go to the website and view the tutorials. You can then save the whole book as a .pdf and distribute that way as a digital photobook, or you can download each page as a .jpg and then use a photobook printer like Shutterfly and upload the pages as a .jpg. I wait until Shutterfly has an unlimited pages photobook offer to have them print the book. My experience is that the photobook is limited to 110 pages. You can make the photobook on Shutterfly and keep it there until they have their offer, then have it printed at a substantial savings.
For the mac, I have used the free version of Canva to produce a .pdf photobook, loading each of my images into one of their templates ( 1,2,3,4 or 5 images per page).

There is WiFi on cruises. I'm guessing she wants to make the book of as she shoots and have it ready for production when she gets home. Although, depending on the service on the ship, the file may be too big.

someone already mentioned Blurb, which uses Bookwrite, same as Lightroom. It is a standalone version and free. It's what I use and am very happy with them!
Get it here.

I publish books and calendars and the only company that I could find with good colour management was Blurb.

If she's going on a cruise, won't there be things to do that are part of enjoying the cruise - and any port of calls en route. I would highly recommend taking whatever shots take her fancy and labelling the cards along the way. Surely the book can wait until she gets home and spends some quality time arranging the photos. Then I would recommend that she use Blurb.

Only been on one cruise and internet was available but you pay through the nose for it.

With Blurb's BookWright, you can do all of the work while not connected to the web.

Cruise ships all have internet currently, but you have to pay for it and the price is steep.
