Lately, Frank has been showing us photos of the area that he lives in. Shots that he takes while walking around his home. That gave me and Idea. I created a collection in Light Room Called: "On or about the Toms River". I live in a place called Beachwood which is on the Toms River. There is also a town called Toms River; but I want to make a collection of just the Toms River. Scenes on and around the River, not necessarily the town. Six miles inland from Barnegat Bay, the Toms River is a tiny little stream. Once it gets near its confluence with the Barnegat Bay, it widens dramatically. There are actually six townships that border on this wider area of the Toms River. These are what I want to concentrate on and document. I might end up with some really nice photos; but my main goal is to capture the ambiance of the various townships that share this little River in New Jersey. Here are a few photos from the last couple of days.

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain a lot. Maybe I can setup under one of the many Gazebos along the river and get some dramatic photos without getting my camera or me soaked. We'll see. Thanks for taking a look.

You’re off to a great start Erich, it looks lovely round your way. The only time I’ve visited NJ was a business trip and I saw very little. Looking forward to your next post.

There are some terrible areas in New Jersey; but they are mainly limited to the industrial, business corridor between New York and Philadelphia. Get above or below that diagonal line, and there are some really nice areas in the Garden State. Thanks for taking a look.

Beautiful images Erich and I'm looking forward to seeing more as your project continues! Well done.

Yep, you’ve pretty much described the first few days of my two weeks in your country Industrual! That was back in ‘73 so it might have improved since then. Either way, your images show a very pleasant area.

We've come a long way since '73; but there is still a fair bit of industry and transportation hubs and such between NYC and Philly. Refineries and such.

Erich, really nice set of everyday life. Great idea of putting them into a collection. I think I will use that for my walk around shots. Over the last couple of weeks as I walk the neighborhood I tried to look at everything with a new set of eyes. Seems to be working but not on every jaunt.
I look forward to your continued journey.

I like the idea and I think we will both be looking local and trying to see something different. Have fun.

A wonderful start to your project, Erich! I look forward to more.
Like your idea and your images. As you develop this collection, hope you keep an idea of presenting your collection to your local Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau, and Realtors in your area. Bev
Your project is off to a very good start Erich.
