Card Reading Error: Card or Camera?

I took some photos and the camera playback gave an error message. They did show up on the camera viewfinder right after I took them, but they would not playback. Other images on the card did playback and card reader in my computer didn't have any trouble with any of the images. The card was formatted in the camera. Does anyone know how to tell if the problem is with the card (almost new 8GB Fugifilm) or the camera (still under warranty). Thanks so much, in advance.

It's hard to tell from your description whether it is one or the other. The fact that the photos were downloadable to the computer tells me it may have been the camera. Do you have another card and does the camera give you the same error message with that card? If so, then it is the camera. If you have tried othr cards and the error message only occurs with the use of that one card, then the card is suspect. After reformatting, in the camera, does it happen again?

Good ideas. Hope you got through the storm without too much difficulty.

I'm starting to get into the habit of formatting my cards twice. It probably doesn't help, but it can't hurt anything. I'm only doing it because I have read so much here similar to this topic and thought it might be a reasonable first step toward avoiding problems. Comments are enthusiastically welcomed.

I have a Canoin 60D, have it for 2 years and have taken a little over 20,400 pics. I think I remember having that problem a couple of times within the first few months and chalked it up to the card. I think with any computer (that's what's in the camera) there will be "burps". If it happens often, have the camera checked out. Also make sure your software is up-to-date.

Just a thought.... have you already viewed your images on your computer? if so, have you left them on your card and tried to view them again in camera... most you will see, but if you have altered any of them when on the computer, usually turning the image 90 degs, will give the the 'error' message in camera.

Also, it sounds stupid, but charge your battery - the camera viewer IS a computer, after all !
