I wanted to do a slide show with Lightroom in June. Adobe's technician went on my computer in June and since then I have not been able to use Photoshop without the blue screen of death (crashes). I have had multiple technicians "help" but each one has made another issue worse (such as not being able to read PDFs). My case has been escalated several times. There have been multiple call backs scheduled in which I was not called back. I have called and been promised that someone would call me back. I have changed my schedule around multiple times (including waiting for nature so that I could answer the phone) only to be disappointed and frustrated. I am ready to use other software but not sure which. I used the trial version of Luminar, but I was not happy with selecting an area. I have a trial of Affinity, but there is a learning curve that I have not mastered. Does anyone have suggestions of other software that is powerful, but also doesn't require multiple hours of learning (which I have already done for Photoshop)?

Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling Photoshop?

I have reinstalled several times. I have had about 10 technicians from India and have been escalated several times, but they do not return calls when they schedule appointments.

I have not but I have had many of their technicians from India take over my computer. Uninstalling, reinstalling, taking off my plug ins. Telling me that I need to buy a new computer. Call Dell. Only Photoshop causes it to crash. I can use all of my other software and spend hours on zoom on the computer everyday.

Photoshop uses a lot of memory, so do a memory check.

Beyond that, make sure you have a backup of your documents, initialize the system disk, and reinstall the operating system and applications. I would start with Photoshop and make sure it doesn't crash your system, then reinstall applications while periodically checking that none of them crash your system.

I have done a memory check and all is OK. I have 32 RAM, i 7 and solid state drives. I can't reinstall programs because programs do not come on disks anymore. I wouldn't know where to get them all from.

What are some of the specifics about your computer, what brand & model, what OS? When did the problem start?

Hundreds of thousands of people use PS / LR everyday. Your subscription gives both phone support and online chat that is technical support. You can download all current software from the Adobe.com site via your Adobe site username and password. It seemed you said you haven't downloaded and updated? Start there. Also, from the Help menu of the Adobe software (that works), you should find the contact us and a lead toward the chat from the Help menu. Then, you should have to wait in the waiting room rather than waiting for a call-back.

Don't even think about reinstalling your operating system unless your computer is from 1985 and you have a disk somewhere lying about. You'll wind up with a boat anchor!

Not good advice. There are times when it's the quickest and easiest solution.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz with 32 RAM. DellG3

It started on June 27 after their technician worked on my computer. I have been raised up the level of support multiple times but often they do not return calls during the times that they set. I have had 5 missed calls. After the last technician changed my settings so I couldn't open PDFs and had to restore my computer. I am now awaiting for my next level of support. I have spent more than 30 hours either waiting or being in front of my computer when the technician takes over my computer.

There comes a time when the option of saving what you need to a another drive, reformatting the operating system drive and reloading the OS/programs along with latest drivers gives you a known new clean system.
