A post-Hurricane Sandy "bump up" in the polls for President Obama.

It's understandable after a crisis for this to happen.

But with millions still without power, gas lines going for 6 miles in some cases, and many people without food and shelter — Americans will start asking where really is Obama's leadership?

Why is it taking so long for power to come on . . . for generators to be provided to gas stations . . . for emergency help to get to people in places like Staten Island, New York!

Leadership is not about Showing Up for a Photo-Op after a Disaster.

It's about planning and preparing before a disaster.

Why did FEMA not offer contingency plans and pre-position relief teams — knowing for days in advance that a major hurricane was about to strike?

I believe millions of Americans will begin asking these questions and more . . . And Obama's bump will begin to dissolve.

As one who lives in New York and has worked in emergency management in New York I can tell you that there was an enormous amount of planning that has gone into this response. FEMA pre-positioned assets and were on the scene before the storm was over.
Yes, New York City and New Jersey are in bad shape but even republican governor Christie and Republican Mayor Bloomberg admit that the administration has done a stellar job.
As to any bump you think will disappear in time, you're probably right. It will be gone by Thursday or Friday but then again, election day is Tuesday, isn't it?

Although I'm leaning more towards Romney right now, I don't blame Obama for some of the FEMA coordination problems. We cannot expect the federal government to wave it's "magic wand" and all our problems will immediately go away.

On a "brighter" Hurricane-Sandy related note, take a look at this night photography story that takes place near the center of the hurricane landfall in New Jersey:
