Regarding your topic heading use of "this sucks," one wonders how "suck" got such a bad reputation. I can think of a number of things, from infancy on up, that are suckingly and immensely pleasurable. Springs from homophobia, perhaps.

Our younger generation invented an added meaning for "this sucks" primarily because they could not spell "snafu."
