SD41SE WHEAT LANE 663-1/3/83 (West side (off)) Top Locks, upper lock (that part in Lathom CP)
Includes: Top Locks, upper lock (that part in Burscough CP) LEEDS-LIVERPOOL CANAL BURSCOUGH. Canal lock. 1781. Resident engineer Robert Owen. For the Leeds-Liverpool Canal Company. Large dressed sandstone blocks, wooden gates. Steps down at north end of west side; wooden footbridge over lower entrance, which has strongly convex curved cheeks. Forms one of group of canal structures at Top Locks. Located on boundary between Burscough CP and Lathom CP.
Very interesting photo Jim. I like the design on the corner of the foreground building to allow easier access to pedestrian traffic.
