I just bought the new Canon EOS R7 system. I've shot Nikon for years and have acquired a number of lenses and D600 and D5500 camera bodies along with two flash units.

I was going to take them to B&H to sell them. Is there a better place to sell them?

MPB might be a good option. British company with a US branch. Or you could list it here on the HOG!

The Navy is buying all used Nikons...making them into anchors! Or you could try on this forum. MPB, KEH are decent places to sell used gear.

I'd try here first....but please do some research on the value of the gear, take photos, list item by item. It takes a bit of work, but it would be worth it.

Kehr will not give you what you want, you would be better off selling them out right if you have the time.

Usedphotopro.com and KEH.com are the two that I have used. Both do occasionally visit the New Jersey area with buying events, I recommend you send each a note to see if anything is coming up in the near future. I found both to be very fair. KEH has a online service to estimate what you might be able to get from them for your gear. Also since you are getting into mirrorless there are adapters to use Nikon lenses on the Canon, albeit generally without a direct electrical contact. One of my favorite lens in my 90mm Series One Vivitar macro in an AI mount that I use occasionally. When I switched to Sony I didn't have the heart to part with it; I'm glad I didn't.

Large resellers will offer the wholesale 'blue book' value of the camera. They have a business to run and will mark-up the price they offer you to then resell. You might get more trying to sell yourself first. You can generate an online quote from KEH to get a sense of their offer. You can also go to their site and see what their selling the same models. KEH has a return policy and limited warranty. So, your private sale price will need to undercut their price to be competitive. Be sure to account for the cost of shipping and factor that price inclusive to a single selling price. I suggest usually trying for 25% less the KEH / MPB prices.

I have always had a good experience with KEH.
That said...
Check places like ebay to see what folk are willing to pay.
List here then sell the unsold on ebay.

I've been happy with selling to B&H. It is as risk free as possible, hassle free, easy and the shipping is free. I've been happy, and sometimes pleasantly surprised at the prices. I've compared what I sold to B&H a couple of time to the same item selling on UHH and they were close to the same price. If you do sell to B&H and the amount is significant, you can ask them to send check via USPS. Otherwise, they will send via FedEx. FedEx takes two weeks to arrive, and the FedEx delivery guy throws it at your door and runs. For me, the USPS delivery is faster and more secure. Or you can get store credit of course.

If you're close enough to B&H, that would be a good solution. Walk in with gear, and walk out with cash -just the opposite of a usual camera store experience. Could you get more money by selling your things some other way? Of course! How much time and effort are you willing to spend to get a little bit more? Is your goal to get some money for your gear or to make money by selling your gear? No matter how much you get for it, when you tell someone, they will say, "What?! I would have given you twice that much!"

Whatever B&H offers you will be more than you have now.
