On a field trip to little Parrot, GA to do an equipment inventory in one of GTE’s switching offices, I encountered either cockroaches or water bugs at least 4 inches long in the motel portico. I almost decided to sleep in my car that night.

StanMac-----Water "boog" is a euphemism deep south southerners use to describe a cockroach. Water bug just sounds better.

Thank you Architect1776, Stan, 47greyfox, St.Mary's! This was last November in north GA. I think I remember frost on the windshield as I prepared to drive south to FLA. Our mantis friend here was warming in the sun and didn't move as I composed and shot from near the minimum focus distance of the 50mm lens I had on the camera I grabbed from the bag.
