Does anybody out there know where I could get a rear element for this lens? it has haze or does the back of this lens come apart.I had the lens or rear lens off but the haze is in between the 2 rear element lenses. Hope you hogers could understand this, I hope I explained it right. Thanks, help is appreciated . Jim Bianco

I was just there. They are having a hard time getting parts from Nikon.

Your best bet would be to get the lens to a repair shop.

As someone noted, Nikon parts are hard to get. Nikon USA has a policy of not selling most replacement parts. They keep all the parts for use by their own repair facilities. Nikon USA has also "fired" all their "approved" repairers, so now the only place to get a Nikon item repaired is at one of their two facilities, for whatever they want to charge you for the service and the parts.

But independent repairers have a network among themselves of donor parts, such as from a damaged copy of a lens. They might be able to repair it.

It also may not need parts. Maybe it's just dust or fungus in there that can be cleaned off. Again, a good independent repair shop should be able to handle it.

At any rate, a lens that's been disassembled will likely need to be re-calibrated. That requires some special tools that you probably don't have, such as a collimator. A proper repair shot would have what's needed to test and adjust the lens, as needed.
