I don't use Lightroom, but you should be able to find instructions by searching for "watermark" in the Help section.

Yes you can add a watermark (copyright mark) to your photos in Lightroom3 .....at the top of page go into help and search for "How to Copyright Watermark Your Images in Lightroom 3"

A short but thorough tutorial of protecting your photos can be found at: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/protect-online-photos.htm

I use a watermark/logo as well as make sure my mega data is embedded in my photos. I believe the megadata is far more important than the watermark.

I don't copywrite, per say. I haven't found the need to do that yet.

I use an obscure copyright on the image as well as entering it in the metadata of the image. You can do both in PhotoShop. I've had several of my pictures stolen and used on websites, it is a far to common practice. People think that anything on the web is there for the taking. When I find a photo of mine that has been hi-jacked I contact the website immediately. If it is a non-profit website I simply ask that they give me credit, if it is a pay site I demand they take the image down immediately. In most cases that does the trick. They never know if you are backed up by a copyright lawyer on retainer so they take it down and don't risk legal action.

Watermarks, as has been noted are easy to take out.
That said, one needs to know where it is to take it out.
When I'm really concerned, I hide it and no one that I know of has ever noticed.
The first example is a covered bridge, untouched.
The second is the detail where I have hidden one claim.
I make the notice small but readable, in a color near the background, but not too close.
I don't put them near the edges because merely cropping gets them out. I also place them in several places so if someone is trying to steal my work they may think they've taken out my claim, but the claims may be all over the image.
Still - -
If my work is copied and used somewhere, I have to get to know it somehow and then its up to me to pursue the matter. There are no copyright police. The cost of legal action may exceed the benefit in many cases.
Usually, if the copier is given a written Cease and Desist notice, and the financial loss isn't high, I've done all that's feasible.
