You saw one of these - 1958 Edsel 2dr Station Wagon! A beautiful restoration of a seldom seen vehicle entered in our annual Caladium Festival Car Show held here in Lake Placid, FL this past Saturday. This is just a teaser, more photos to come in following posts. Despite the high cost of gasoline and temps in the mid to upper '90's, a possibly record number of vehicles of all types, almost 300, were in attendance!

Good looking photo --
A good clean looking example of just why no one bought them back then!!

Great photo! We had record number of entries & attendance in our car shows here, too. Folks are ready to enjoy their freedom.

Thanks for sharing! I can confidently say that I've never seen a Edsel station wagon.... ever. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, I certainly remember the Edsel and rode in a couple regretfully owned by friends' parents. Never did that include anything other than a sedan, however.

Super photo of a loser car. If nothing else it has burned Edsel Ford's name into the history books. Edsel Ford may be forgotten but his name lives on.

Ditto.
Actually I only knew one guy that bought a new '58 Edsel, and he was ridiculed a good bit by all of us.
Never saw many of them, and never ever saw a wagon.
Good catch here.

Nice! I'm not put off by the Edsell. There were certainly a bunch of other vehicles that were strange looking.

Nice find! I don't ever recall seeing an Edsel station wagon and I've been around since 1946.

Some things don’t get better looking with age.

True, but in this case, the bad looks attributed to it's rareness, which add to it's value.
Also, some (few) cars that I didn't like in my youth, I find quite pleasing today. Not the Edsel though..
This wagon is pretty cool though...

I did, the Edsel didn't. The pushbutton shifter in the center of the steering wheel was so complicated that even factory-trained mechanics couldn't troubleshoot or repair it.

That shifter sounds almost as cool as the push button one on the’63 Chrysler we had.

I had experience with both. On the "cool scale" the Edsel was #1. The Chrysler push button shifter on the dash was a close 2nd and the one (forget what model) that had the paddle shifter on the dash was 3rd.
