Hah! Took me all of three seconds to adjust to being retired. Ten or whatever years ago.

Probably because it seems I was 'born' to be retired. Or maybe I'm just naturally lazy.

Gotta go now: got stuff to get done.................

My sentiments exactly! I retired 18 years ago next month. My days are so busy I don't know how I ever had time to hold a job!

Right?

I wonder why I wasted so much time working!

I certainly agree with you. I retired 9 years ago and it took a couple of months of not having to answer 100 emails and text messages every day. Plus, I had a job that I traveled almost every week, 80% domestic and 20% Internationally. My body clock was always messed up. Now, I travel because I want to visit some cool areas of the world. I like that my time is mine and I'm plenty busy. I love retirement!

"My brother worked there as well. [at Republic Steel]
He worked during the summer while attending school at Youngstown State University. Smalll world.

Yep. I did the same while at Ohio State. Then dropped out of OSU and worked full time for a year. Any body wanted to file a grievance, they would come to "the college boy" (me) and I would write it for them. I won quite a few, some in arbitration. Ended up going to Yale Law School, specialized in labor law. Then taught at OSU for 30 years, served on the Athletic Council, defended students after the riots etc. I think the Adm was happy when I retired as I'd been somewhat of a pain in their butts during and after the riots! Kudos to everyone. Enjoy the days to their fullest.
Me, i'm just tired.

It's been a long journey, but still going to the school of hard knocks with no graduation date in sight.
I see no future retirement for me. Bad choices and fate says I'll just grow old and get kicked out one day with nothing to fall back into.

If so, no need to be a burden to anyone, I've got a bullet waiting.

Sorry to hear that.

Don't mistake financial security for happiness.
I have...wealth...which is always relative btw...I know folks who dwarf me...financially.

That being said...I have known very poor people who were delightfully happy.
I have also met (many times) VERY wealthy folks...who are miserable.

Money can buy convenience...not happiness.

I have very few possessions anymore...gave it all away to relatives when I was 50.
The wife insisted we keep the furniture (lol).

I personally have zero trouble with suicide...just make sure it is for the right reason.
Loss of health would be a reason for me...not finances.

Not mistaking, but understanding that its one less worry to be old and still looking for ways to pay the bills.
I've had carried other people's burden. Nothing to cry about but I'd rather not pass that torch when its my time.
I've had my share of the good journey, that is enough happy memories to dream of.
But hopefully not yet, maybe another 10-15 years on. There might be still good memories down the road, who knows.

Yes, no doubt...it's more difficult.
I have never found a happy medium with finances...each level I attained carried different weights and responsibilities. I would think... if I get to this point...it will all get easier...it never did.

Hit those agencies up as hard as you can...they are there for you...and obviously you are no sloucher.
If anyone should get some assistance...it should be you.
