this link has a huge number of photos of the damage at the Jersey shore .
On to my current dilemma. My Sony a-100 will not take a charge. I bought a new battery; then a new charger. Neither worked. After charging, when I turn on the camera, I see a red status light go on then immediately turn off. I am left with an unuseable camera. Does anyone know a new jersey or philadelphia area camera repair company where I can take it? Any suggestions most welcome- thank you

Google is your friend!

I had an a200 that did this. I've heard mainboard issue (after all, a DSLR is just a computer with a lens). Turned it into a brick, but I was able to sell it on eBay for a hundred bucks. The cost to repair is probably prohibitive. Of course, your camera may be different.

My Sony did this if I took out the memory card the camera would stay on! My camera held 1 gig on it's internal memorie so I took a picture it worked. I ened up finding a factory reset for the thing in the manual and did that it worked luckily. But I still upgraded and never looked back!

Well if you make it into the city there's a great place that I trust with my cameras that has reasonable prices and beats shipping it back to the company. It's called phototech repair and they have 3 locations in the city (the one I went to right off of union square) and their website is phototech.com. They fixed my canon g9 that wouldn't turn on in about 3 business days and gave me the estimate before repair. I mean upgrading would be great too.

Note to Larrie "Do not bid on anything from Arizona"

Your best bet for a quick resolution is to contact Sony service. I had aproblem of my own doing with my Canon. The local camera repair facility (Dodd) quoted 4-6 weeks. I sent it to Canon and had it back in just over a week.

I don't know if this is your problem, but be cautious of Brand X batteries and chargers...they do not always work, and they CAN (not always) fix your camera so it will not work. Stick with actual Sony stuff.

Find a dealer in your area. Take the camera in and ask them to put a known good, charged Sony battery in it. If it works buy one there. If not ask about repair options.
