I see this flower bloom only once a year on my morning walk…but I have no idea what it is…it’s some kind of cactus…usually I see only one bloom…today there were lots! This was the best of the them.

iPhone 12 Pro Max, lightly enhanced in Snapseed.

Nice shot of a beautiful flower.
I don’t know why but it seems like cactus flowers are always gorgeous!

That is a beautiful flower! There is a free app for your IPhone called "Seek by iNaturalist". My wife uses it when we are out and about. Anyway, if you use the app and take a photo of the plant, flower, etc, it will tell you what you are looking at or at least, get you in the neighborhood of the plant, flower species. etc.

Download the Google app. In the Search bar there’s a camera icon. Press that and focus on the subject. If it’s common in your area it can give you a definite ID. Or it might show a few options to choose from with detail descriptions of the plants and where they grow to help narrow it down. It works on way more things than just plants. I focused it on one of our artificial arrangements in the house to see if it knew what the flowers were and it came back with "Artificial arrangement, $19.95". 😊😊

Beautiful picture. I found this info in photos on my iMac about the flower.

Thank you! I've discovered that it's a cactus in the dragonfruit family; the flower is night blooming.

Thanks! It's part of the dragonfruit family. Had to climb around some of the neighbor's trash cans to get this shot; what we won't do for a photo! It'll be interesting to watch whether the fruit actually grow from these.

Yep! I used several apps, and came up with this being a night-blooming cactus in the dragonfruit family. I'll continue to watch and see if the fruit actually develops from this. Will be interesting.
