Various laws that are immutable truths
Law of Mechanical Repair – After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch and you’ll have to pee.
Law of Gravity – Any tool, nut, bolt, screw, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible place in the universe.
Law of Probability – The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.
Law of Random Numbers – If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal – and someone always answers.
Variation Law – If you change checkout lines or traffic lanes, the one you were in will always move faster than the one you just moved into.
Law of the Bath – When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.
Law of Close Encounters – The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don’t want to be seen with.
Law of the Result – When you try to prove to someone that a machine won’t work, it will!
Law of Biomechanics – The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.
Law of the cinema, sports arena etc. – At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle, always arrive last. They are the ones who will leave their seats several times to go for food, beer, or the toilet and who leave early before the end of the performance or the game is over. The folks in the aisle seats come early, never move once, have long gangly legs or big bellies and stay to the bitter end of the performance. The aisle people also are very surly folk.
The Coffee Law – As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something that will last until the coffee is cold.
Murphy’s Law of Lockers – If there are only two people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.
Law of Physical Surfaces – The chances of an open-faced piece of toast and jam landing face down on a floor, are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet or rug.
Law of Logical Argument – Anything is possible IF you don’t know what you are talking about.
Brown’s Law of Physical Appearance – If the clothes fit, they’re ugly.
Watson’s Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy – As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.
Doctors’ Law – If you don’t feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you’ll feel better. But don’t make an appointment, and you’ll stay sick.

Absolutely correct (I have tested almost every one and found it to be true).

Yes. Definitely.

EDIT: This often happens to me. I'll be in a store - any store - and I go to the area with the item I want. The store could be almost empty, but there will be someone else at that exact spot, blocking the area where I want to look.

Another common occurrence: The checkout line I'm on will have a problem - a troublesome customer, broken register, cashiers changing shifts. I often find myself apologizing to the people behind me because I know that I am the cause of the long, non-moving line. I no longer change lines at toll booths because I know if I move, that line will stop. Actually, tool booths seem to have become a thing of the past - at least in NY.

Missed one law, when one’s hands unknowingly come in contact with poison ivy, then comes the itchy eye and urge to pee! Yes, speaking from personal experience!

Law of taking apart a machine: Take apart a machine often enough, eventually you will have sufficient pieces of that machine left over to build you another machine.

Good morning "R",

I have a good one to add to your Murphy's Law section. I've never heard of this one from anyone else - it's just been experienced and "in my head", so to speak, for many decades (72 years old). As is true with nearly everyone on planet Earth I am slightly Obsessive Compulsive (slightly ?) and an anal-retentive (slightly ?) and absolutely obsessed / anal with maintaining a meticulously detailed vehicle. I'd swear that whenever I park my vehicle in a large and nearly empty parking - as far away from any other vehicle as is possible - I return only to find another vehicle snugged up as close to mine as is possible. The other vehicle is usually older, rusted and dirty with an occasional "wash me" drawn on the rear window. Again, no other machines within 75 - 100 yards. A Psychiatrist / Psychologist would very likely have an explanation for this.
Anyway, I love your collection (printed and will be kept in my UHH collection) and please keep observing / posting our really wonderful, if quite frequently, insane world.

All the very best to you and yours,

Terry

I was going to mention something along this line. When two people with carts are in an aisle they will have to stop at the same spot to inspect an item on opposite shelves, blocking the whole aisle for others.
Also, when I want to inspect something I try to park the cart someplace where it will be out of the way. However, I have found that about the only place it will be out of the way is if I hang it from the ceiling.

I saw a cartoon about someone giving old people directions on how to block an aisle in a supermarket.

Terry, you are absolutely correct. As one of those who hates door dings on nice automobiles, I often park a distance from other cars (consequently walking further to my destination), only to return and find exactly what you describe, it’s as if the other car is lonesome and has persuaded it’s driver to find some company for it.

I wonder why that's a thing. It's almost like animals instinctively herding together.
