I suspect that any Hogger that lives east of the Mississippi has visited the Biltmore Mansion so these images will be nothing new for most of us.
I was doing a bit of housekeeping on the directory of images and I came across the series of images that I took on a trip to the Biltmore Mansion along with a stop at Gatlinburg (By the way, did you know that they sell t-shirts there?).
This is a sampling of what I saw through the lens of the Nikon D810 and the 24-85 lens.
The lighting is exquisite. Beautiful photos.

Lovely place
Thanks, Peekaboo. It was a bit difficult to wrap my mind around the wealth and opulence of the time and what it took to build and maintain it. Of course, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, has a $117-million mansion as one of his homes so perhaps someday his home will become a tourist attraction for us common folks.

Thanks, NMGal. It was an overcast day and they were getting ready for the Christmas season so things just happened to work out to the advantage of my camera and choice of lens.
I wanna take pictures like you when I grow up.
George
P.S., Is that the 24-85 f2.8? I have the 24-85 f3.5-5.6

Thanks, George. The lens that I have is the 24-85mm f/2.8-4 IF. I wanted to take just one lens and I find the 24mm to be a good choice for interior shots for it does not distort in the ways that a wider lens does on my camera. The 85mm does a fair job when shooting in the more open spaces for me. I did not take a tripod or monopod with me, however, I have learned to look for something to lean my shoulder against, like a wall, tree, or column, that I can steady the camera and use the virtual horizon and grid display to keep things straight and level.
