Intentional Camera Movement….There Is An App For That

Thanks to UHH member Fstop12 for alerting me to the phone app called Slow Shutter that can be used for ICM photography. I found that I already had the app and used it awhile ago for light trails.

I took these yesterday afternoon on the nature path near our new home in Georgia.

For anyone interested, the app has 3 capture modes, Motion Blur(which I used), Light Trail, and Low Light. Blur Strength, Shutter Speed, and ISO can be adjusted.

I used an iPhone 12 mini.

Those are very interesting, very artsy, like you’d see hanging on the wall in the foyer of some big building. In fact, it looks a lot like some early European painting. Cool stuff.

Thank you, Greg. I am happy with the results…something new and unique.

These are all really good! #5 ,7 and 8 are my favorites of the bunch. So what do you think? Isn't it much more enjoyable being able to create images like these without having to lug around a clunky DSLR?

Thank you for the compliment. My experience after taking these photos with my phone reminds me of a quote by Diane Arbus, “I never have taken a picture I’ve intended they’re always better or worse.” I also think the results are better and easier than using a traditional camera. Both my wife and I like these photos…a lot. We are even talking about printing and hanging some. I plan to post these in the normal photo gallery in a day or so. Thank you again for alerting me to this app!

Thank you for your comment. I have found that it is more difficult to get pleasing results using horizontal movement, as in #4…..probably my best horizontal movement ICM so far.
