I was lucky enough to go sailing last week on Canada's most famous sailing ship - Bluenose II. It's an exact replica of the original Bluenose right down to the wood species for the masts. It has 8 masts but only 4 were raised on our trip. Here's a few pictures taken on board.

Really nice photographs, DebAnn. There's nothing like a sailing ship to cruise about the waterways.

Thank you Bob. I was a bit nervous, thinking that the ship wouldn't be very smooth, but ended up being amazed at the steady sail. It was a wonderful trip around the Lunenburg area where we got to see the landmarks from a different point of view. The Bluenose is crewed by a half dozen full-time crew and the rest are summer students who are given serious instruction before going to sea. When I saw the effort they had to put in to pull up those mighty sails by rope, I expect they'll be ultra fit when they become landlubbers again. The captain has been in charge for 33 years.

Very nice set, plus it's hard not to notice the gentleman on deck with a Mamiyaflex TLR slung around his neck. Someone in your party?

No, but I had to take a shot of him. He had a notebook in his pocket which he kept getting out to record things. I was wondering if he was a writer on an assignment or such. My 8-year-old grand niece "accosted" him, wanting to know about the camera, which to her was rather strange. He launched into a detailed explanation.

It's an interesting camera. There were many variations over the years. One of the features was that the lenses were attached to a lens board that moved on bellows when the camera was focused, and they were interchangeable. I looked up prices for some of the various models, and they go for a couple of hundred to thousands used.
