This ornamental flower has spider in its name, but there were no such critters crawling in its branches.

This is a cleome, as known as a spider flower.

Bob, have you ever been to Lansford Canal State Park in SC? Spider lilies only grow in 2 or 3 places in the US and this spot along the Catawba River is one of them. They normally bloom in the river from mid-May to mid-June each year. Great photo opps. You could do this as a day trip from your house.
