Just got the text today from “PayPal” that my account was Restricted. I wonder at times about good ‘ol Mortimer from the Darwin Club.

I wouldn't touch that even if I was using someone else's computer...

I still get crap like that and I dumped PayPal 20 yrs ago

I've ordered equipment from Japan on eBay. Impossible without a PayPal account. When I pay with PayPal at home, the forms on the web site are populated with my info automatically. (Everyone you order from knows your information anyway.) I get the phishing messages claiming to be from PayPal, or Amazon, or Apple or even my bank or another bank I don't do business with. I just ignore them.

I dumped PAYPAL recently because I could not access my account as i do not own a smart phone. The person to whom I spoke was very pleasant and offered that if I want access I would have to ring them, in USA, and they would give me a password. This would take place every time. So I canceled the account. I am able to access my bank whenever I need to do so.

Perhaps things are different in Australia. I can access my PayPal accounts on a computer, smart phone or tablet and order merchandise on any of those platforms.

you are fortunate. I refuse to buy a smart phone! I use a computer/table top.

It's good that we can see the email address of the actual sender. If they delete that capability, it will be more difficult to detect scams. I get "financial problem" spam email every day. They all go into my Spam folder.

On thing you can do is set up two part authentication on your PayPal account.

I protect myself quite well. This was such an obvious thing that I easily identified it and dealt with it accordingly.
