Teaching a class to "under privileged youth", I got lucky with this image. There are multiple elements/rules of composition. Can you name any? Other than the two I mentioned. Taken with a Nikon 50 1.8g, D750, pp in Lightroom.

I did a post on composition/rule of thirds on a different site and I was disappointed at the pure disdain in mentioning the term "rules"! Responses like "rules were made to be broken", "I refuse to be restricted", "I please myself", "My creativity will be restrained"......It surprised me how little people knew about composition approaches as well as the desire to incorporate. I use rule of thirds quite often, even in portraiture. I would like to see images from others where a particular rule of composition is utilized. Here are a few - rule of thirds

No wonder folks react negatively. You are a bit obnoxious now. Three successive posts on the subject?
The real goal is to get folks to look at your stuff?

Well that's negative alright but this topic is not negative. He just asked a question.

I intend to remain obnoxious buttercup! Didn't know you were a member of "the post police". I saw some of your work.......omg LOL! Sophomoric at best. At least you can count (not sure how far). BTW, I assume you have nothing of value to add...AGAIN! I do have a recommendation for you.....Kaopectate - yep, it helps with diarrhea of the mouth. I would suggest the child's dosage initially. If that doesn't work, you can increase it to "the big boy" dose.
What is the theme of your photograph????
I also teach a photography youth camp this summer... Thirds, plus verticals or horizontals. No diagonals? Don't forget shots breaking the rules.
no rules

Yes, there is 3) frame-in-frame, with he water spouts providing the frame. 4) layered, with the center deck splitting the image.
Additionally, this has two stories going on at the same time. The boy playing on the upper deck and the girls playing on the lower deck. This is something one seee’s in paintings of the old masters. Various stories occurring in a scene separated by darkened areas.
This is a very good image, compositionally, to think about and anayze.
BTW, I think you posting images and initiating discussion about composition is an excellent idea. It gets back to the art of photography rather than old discussions about gear and software. This is a refreshing subject material. Keep it up, please!

Take another look - tons of geometric shapes to include squares, rectangles, triangles.
Yet another poor example of "thirds" plus a lack of subject interest - even when properly cropped & you now also
claim to teach photography - unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys be nice.... Any class on photography is better than no class. You guys have no idea the state these kids are in (mental) after 2 years of being secluded with covid....If you think you can do better... then get off your butt and do it.
