I received a new Nikon 10-20 mm lens yesterday. Everything looked good, with no visible damage, etc. The rear lens cap will not come lose. It is almost like it is glued to the lens body. Has anyone had this same problem?

You are aware Nikon lenses are reverse threaded?
Never had that problem. I'm sure you know but just remember it is a left hand thread.

GENTLY!
Like they said, check another Nikon rear lens cap and make sure you are turning it the right way.
Great lens, by the way.

You're probably turning it the wrong way.
lefty loosey... righty tighty
Is it a "Nikon" rear cap?
I've actually had some issues with used kit that shipped with third party rear caps.
Immediately replaced same...
Please do not use vise-grips or any other metal tool.
Instead put on a pair of latex dish washing gloves... they will give you all the traction you need...
Ken Rockwell made a very wise evaluation of that cost effective lens

Personally I would never purchase an optic with a plastic lens mount (but that's just me).
If it works for you, fine... If not? Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger...

Problems of the severity you describe removing the rear lens cap are, unfortunatelty, symptomatic of much worse problems. If you are sure you are turning it to the RIGHT to try to remove it, and it is not coming off, return the lens for a refund. If that mount breaks because of your own excessively forcible actions, the damage will be your responsibility. My guess is that the plastic mount is broken and pieces are jammed in the way of allowing the cap to come off.
I had my new adapter stuck to my Z50 the first time applied. Nikon tech aid said to send it in. I took it to my Best Buy Geek Squad for safe removal. What a relief!
You’re probably turning up the wrong way

Geeze...did anybody mention you might be turning it the wrong way?
Did anybody read the responses already offered? The wrong way horse has been beaten pretty much to death.
I shipped the lens back to Adorama for a refund yesterday. I ordered a new one from Samy's camera. Should be here in a couple of days. Thanks for all your feedback.
Although the OP said it's his new lens I guess it's a used lens? Can the OP confirm this?
