These are the three models on a recent group shoot. The dresses were provided by the shoot organiser and are ex-theatrical clothing. I thought they suited our purposes perfectly. The water pot was one of several props I took along. Additions like this open up more opportunities when posing the models.

I made some minor changes to the base image in Lr before opening in Ps. For this one I added the third (centre) model and changed the colour of her dress, swapped the foot of the lefthand model as her toes looked odd, with cloning I tidied up the cuffs of the righthand model as they were unbuttoned and removed a chunk of her dress which had bunched-up due to being too large, faded the greenery a little to separate the background, changed the colour of the water pot, did a bit of frequency separation to the faces and added various adjustment layers (mainly curves and hue&saturation) as required. I generally work in 16-bit ProPhoto colour gamut but changed to 8-bit as I couldn't remember the 16-bit settings for frequency separation (!) and then ran into problems saving an sRGB jpeg to suit UHH. Just wasn't my day! Anyway, it's now near enough to what I see when viewing the original psd file. Your critique is welcome, as are any suggestions re method.

You ended up with a beautiful image. What will you do with it?

Ronongo has asked that we add a note on what we have done whilst creating posts for this section. I made some minor changes to the base image in Lr before opening in Ps. Nice and interesting image. But, there is something odd or un-natural about that foot. Nearly side of the heel and top of the toes at the same time? How strange was her foot originally? It looks like she would need a 14D shoe! Personally I just stay in 16-bit sRGB for PSD, TIFF, DNG, RAW, and 8-bit sRGB JPGs. I don't need higher level colour gamuts for viewing or printing.

I’ll post it on the photography groups site so the models can see it, probably on my own fb page so friends see it and that’s about it. It’s not good enough to print (it’s lost contrast in the seated models which has flattened it, probably due to over-messing about). I might come back to it sometime as I have a thought to make the ladies into a bronze statue (in Photoshop, not reality!). Meanwhile I’m struggling with a couple of other composites from the same shoot and, if I complete them they’ll appear in the same places as this one - I don’t do much else with them. Thanks for commenting APL, it’s appreciated.

Thank you.
The original foot had the big toe turned upward, which looked unsightly. I don’t see the modification as awkward, it’s merely from an adjacent shot with the toes pointed downward and is blended from the shadow just in front of the ankle bone. A very easy job as the two layers fitted easily. Colour gamut is a personal choice, I mentioned it as I ran into a problem whilst re-assigning.

Stellar work and concept, as always, Dave.

A cool question from AzPicLady too. Seems with digital photography and pp creations, it's often about the process and online sharing more than printing. Maybe true for digital photography overall, what with smart phones, twitter, Instagram, flickr et al?

Yes, I think you’re right Linda, we live in a media world where Facebook rules! It’s not the first time I’ve been asked what I do with images, and it is nice to see them in print sometimes - but an expensive addition if one wants to print large! Even using a site like Viewbug generates pressure to spend more and get a ‘pro’ account. Everything is about making money. A bit of guidance and few nods from UHH usually suffices for me!
