So.... This dish is SO Simple, yet never found nowadays - for
most people, probably good riddance! I know my kids and their families
don't like it!! Both my grandparents and my parents made it and liked it. Guessing maybe it was a
Depression Era thing.
~
Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast. Mine is a simple white sauce (the Cream), Chipped Beef (mine is that bagged stuff from
Land 0' Frost or Carl Budding), and toast (mine this time is some delicious
Sourdough bread from a local bakery).
I happen to
LUV the stuff....
The Wife... The Hate!!
Good photo! As Crocodile Dundee said "You can live on it...I agree with your Wife! I'm sure your version tasted just fine.

That brought back memories! You made that look good. My dad loved it, even though he called it something else that did not make it sound appetizing. I will join your wife in the hate club.

Anyone who has served in the military has likely had the mil version of this dish, affectionately known as SOS.
and that don't mean Help!

Usually made with hamburger not chipped beef in the military. I looked forward to it when I was in the Army, it was one of the few things the cooks couldn't screw up. Still make it home once in a while and put it over hash brown potatoes with bacon on the side.
That was also one of my dad's favorites. Maybe acquired during his military service. Thanks for reminding me of him.
In past years I did voluntary work in the NYS prison systems Chip beef is a main stay in their diet the
beef was always a mystery. They had a different name for it sh t on a shingle. I haven’t eaten it in years as a child I liked my mothers version
Thanks
Joe
Very nicely done. Love that it was plated with a bit of toast visible.

My Dad would sometimes have my Mother make it that way..... I did not like it as much. I've personally never gone down that road!
Thanks, Curmudgeon!!
